Features of the Model RA-64M.
What's different and what's not.

Quick Explanation:
The RA-64M is a dual Mini-DIN-6 equipped sound card made specifically for our extruded & anodized Metal-SC Cases. This RA is designed to connect two radios to a single sound card interface to easily make an AllStar Link Repeater using two commercial or amateur radios - and doing so without needing to build custom radio cables.

The RA-64M can be used with a single radio for a simplex AllStar Link node using only the TX/RX jack on the rear. The ports are configured internally with mechanical jumpers on headers - no soldering required.

The RX jack allows both COS and CTCSS logic to be connected by way of the Mini-DIN-6 cable. Our commercial radio accessory port adapters can be configured to route all of the necessary signals, including CTCSS decode logic, to the RA-64M on the RX jack. Pin 1 of the Mini-DIN-6 cable is remapped for the receiver and allows separate / individual CTCSS logic to be connected to the RA-64M. Doing so allows remote selection of the repeater's access mode - carrier access or CTCSS access is available by DTMF command.

A COS LED on the front panel indicates the status of squelch logic when driven by AllStar Link Software - (HamVoIP or ASL).

All "M" Series interfaces have selectable Relay or Transistor PTT keying.

There is no Standard RA-64 - this interface is only available in a metal case.

More information for those willing to continue reading:
The M Series circuit boards are sized to maximize usability because the board is a little larger than our Standard RA's. The boards have a tinned copper shielding rail enhancement area that slides into the slots of the metal case. This tinned area maximizes the coupling between the board and case and minimizes RFI. Needle nose pliers are generaly not needed to reposition any of the configuration jumpers.

The COS LED is located on the front panel and the rear panel properly identifies the RA-64M and its two radio ports.

The PTT keying method is selectable by two mechanical jumpers. You choose between Transistor or Relay keying. The Relay position adds compatibility with all radios. The Transistor position insures the fastest keying on radios that are okay with electronic keying. A reed type relay minimizes the keying delay when this option must be used.
